o muzeu

Slovácké Museum´s conservation workroom is one of the more recent departments- Its purpose is conservation and restoration of collections for the existing sections of the museum.
The first mention of conservation dates back to the year 1937 when folk costumes and their accessories were prepared for the Exhibition of Slovácko in Uherské Hradiště.

In 1970, a new conservation workroom was set up in the main building of Slovácké Museum in Uherské Hradiště. In 1995, the department was extended by a newly reconstructed object in Hradební Street where various materials were conserved and restored. The object is well equipped for the needs of the department also in a detached workroom in the village of Topolná.

The department´s task is to preserve collections in relatively good condition using adequate chemical substances. The department is divided into sections according to materials, professions and the nature of collections. Working procedures and used chemicals are recorded electronically along with the documentation of the state of the object, and of the analysis of materials in question.
